Hausdorff Measures and Functions of Bounded Quadratic Variation

To each function ff of bounded quadratic variation (f∈V2f\in V_2) we associate a Hausdorff measure μf\mu_f. We show that the map f→μff\to\mu_f is locally Lipschitz and onto the positive cone of M[0,1]\mathcal{M}[0,1]. We use the measures {μf:f∈V2}\{\mu_f:f\in V_2\} to determine the structure of the subspaces of V20V_2^0 which either contain c0c_0 or the square stopping time space S2S^2.Comment: 36 pages This is a revised version with few typos and linguistic correction

On the Feasibility of Real-Time 3D Hand Tracking using Edge GPGPU Acceleration

This paper presents the case study of a non-intrusive porting of a monolithic C++ library for real-time 3D hand tracking, to the domain of edge-based computation. Towards a proof of concept, the case study considers a pair of workstations, a computationally powerful and a computationally weak one. By wrapping the C++ library in Java container and by capitalizing on a Java-based offloading infrastructure that supports both CPU and GPGPU computations, we are able to establish automatically the required server-client workflow that best addresses the resource allocation problem in the effort to execute from the weak workstation. As a result, the weak workstation can perform well at the task, despite lacking the sufficient hardware to do the required computations locally. This is achieved by offloading computations which rely on GPGPU, to the powerful workstation, across the network that connects them. We show the edge-based computation challenges associated with the information flow of the ported algorithm, demonstrate how we cope with them, and identify what needs to be improved for achieving even better performance.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure

Semilocal Convergence Analysis of an Iteration of Order Five Using Recurrence Relations in Banach Spaces

[EN] Semilocal convergence for an iteration of order five for solving nonlinear equations in Banach spaces is established under second-order Fr,chet derivative satisfying the Lipschitz condition. It is done by deriving a number of recurrence relations. A theorem for the existence-uniqueness along with the estimation of error bounds of the solution is established. Its R-order is shown to be equal to five. Both efficiency and computational efficiency indices are given. A variety of examples are worked out to show its applicability. In comparison to existing methods having similar R-orders, improved results in terms of computational efficiency index and error bounds are found using our methodology. The authors thank the referees for their valuable comments which have improved the presentation of the paper.
